Flexible working for families

Our people and what they bring to our Co-op shape our success, and that’s why, as a Co-op, we offer flexible working to ensure the job gets done while also being able to be there for the important moments in life.

We support the balance between an employee’s work and home hours. Although we prioritise meeting all business needs, we are committed to supporting our people and enabling them to ensure their family responsibilities are taken care of.

We aim to provide a working environment that supports and enables engagement and productivity through flexible and inclusive working practices without detrimentally impacting operational efficiency, collaboration, and effectiveness.

Flexibility may look different for roles covered by Collective Agreements (CA) on production sites; however, similar options may be available.

Supporting families to get the best start

Our parental leave policy brings ‘Good Together’ to life. Our principles of whanaungatanga and manaakitanga embed how we care for our people through this important role and time as parents, ensuring their whānau gets the best start in life.

We offer primary caregivers (who meet the 12 month employment criteria) parental leave payments topped up to 100% of base salary or wages for 26 weeks and pay employees returning from parental leave a one-off KiwiSaver employer contribution of 3% of the salary they’d have received during their unpaid parental leave period.

We also offer two weeks of paid partner leave (secondary caregiver) at 100% of normal wages/salary, which can be taken at any time within 12 months following the arrival of a new child.

Fonterra recognises returning to work can be a juggle, so our wraparound support ensures a smoother transition back, giving returning parents the flexibility to manage their work lives around their families and a clear line of communication with their managers.
